Police are hunting a would-be robber who tried to mug a woman in Bath this morning.
The man struck as the 25-year-old woman was walking home at around 1am.
She was at the junction of Wells Road and Hayesfield Park when the man crossed the road, came up behind her and grabbed the bag she was wearing over her shoulder and across her body.
He failed to take the bag or any property and ran off down Wells Road towards the city centre.
Police say the woman was shocked but otherwise unhurt.
The man is described as white, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. He had short dark hair and was clean shaven and wearing a dark hoody with a zip at the front, and blue jeans.
Anyone who may have seen the incident, or saw the man in the area at the time, is asked to contact Bath CID on 101 quoting crime reference number 45681/14.
