Bath in Fashion kicked off in style today with reality TV star Jamie Laing praising the city for its up-to-date trends.

The Made in Chelsea star said how much he loved stylish Bath as he opened his Candy Kittens pop-up shop in Milsom Place for the second year in a row.

The 25-year-old, who is heir to McVitie's, said the fashion and sweet treats shop was perfect for Bath as its residents were so chic.

The shop will be open for just seven days as part of the week-long fashion festival which features a whole host of events including catwalk shows, shopping events and a Style Pavilion in Stall Street.

Jamie, who spent time posing for photos and signing autographs, said: "It's great to be in Bath and what better time to open a pop-up shop than during Bath In Fashion.

"I think candy and fashion mix very well together especially somewhere as stylish as Bath. The people of Bath have a great look about them; they look the part with the latest trends.

"I love Bath, I visit quite a lot as my cousin lives here. It's a great place with really friendly people and I'm loving it even more today in the sunshine."

Jamie launched his online company about two years ago and now has his merchandise in Selfridges and Harvey Nichols in London. It is described as 'the fashionable confectionery brand for young people.'

The entrepreneur said opening pop up shops around the country was so much fun and joked that it felt like he was in a "travelling circus." It is Jamie's dream to expand to New York as he was inspired to start the business after visiting American boutique candy shop Dylan's, which is owned by Ralph Lauren's daughter Dylan Lauren.

He said: "I love candy and people always say you have to do something you love for a living. You could say I'm a connoisseur of candy, I definitely have a sweet tooth."

Jamie remains a regular in Made In Chelsea, which follows the lives of people living in the wealthy Chelsea district of London.

CicelyFrears, 14, and Amy Guest, 15, who both go to Ralph Allen School, were among the fans who were excited to meet Jamie.

Amy said: "We saw on Facebook that he would be in Bath and we quickly decided we had to go and see him. We saw him last year as well, we're big fans; he's just really nice and friendly."

Today's festival launch also saw shoppers visiting the Style Pavilion to strike their best pose and show off their latest purchases.

People of all ages were excited to see what it's like to be photographed by the paparazzi at the 'Snapped by the Paps' photo session from 1pm to 3pm.

City of Bath College photography student Charlotte Edwards captured people of all ages who wanted to pretend they were on the red carpet and her photos will appear on the Bath Chronicle website and in print next week.

The 18-year-old said: "I'm interested in fashion and this is a great way for me to get more experience. Bath in Fashion is a great event that's always really successful so I'm glad to be a part of it. I'd love to get a job in fashion photography."
