Mia Ritchie, Stacey Francis and Rosie Allison net awards at Team Bath Superleague dinner

Mia Ritchie, Stacey Francis and Rosie Allison collected the awards at the Team Bath Netball Superleague end-of-season dinner on Thursday night. Effervescent mid-courter Ritchie collected a pair of awards was voted Players' Player of the Year by her team-mates and also collected the Coaches' Player of the Year title. "I was surprised and delighted to win both awards," said the Team Bath and England player. "To receive awards from my fellow players and our coaches was a real honour." Defender Francis was also delighted to receive the Fans' Player of the Season award after topping an online poll of supporters at www.teambath.com. In an exciting finish to the voting, that saw more than 5,000 votes cast from as far afield as Australia, Barbados, Canada, Jamaica and New Zealand, Francis edged out England captain Pamela Cookey by fewer than 100 votes. Shooter Allison received the Most Improved Player accolade after a consistent season in front of goal. Team Bath finished third in the regular ZEO Superleague table but went down 42-34 to Hertfordshire Mavericks in the third-placed play-off on Saturday. Jess Thirlby, Team Bath head coach, thanked the players, coaching staff and support teams for the contributions they made this season and also praised the fans for their terrific backing. "We didn't have the season we wanted but we worked well together as a team on and off the court," she said. "There's an unrelenting commitment on our behalf to get back where we belong and I'm already massively excited about next season."
