Marathon runners from the Bath area have spoken of their delight at the support from the crowd this year. Bath GP Zoe Haines, 37, did a time of 1:53 and said supporters definitely made a difference. "The supporters this year were amazing," she said. "They really helped to spur me on. The whole thing was such good fun, and really well organised." Ms Haines was doing the marathon with her new fiancé, Simon Lingard, 33, who works for St Martin's Hospital and completed the course in 1:56. He said: "It went really well, I did it two years ago and beat my personal best by about three minutes, so I'm really pleased. It was a great day." The couple, who got engaged last week in the French Alps, were running for the Bath Cats and Dogs Home. Justin Amanatullah, 33, who lives in Bath, was running for CLIC. He said: "I beat my time for last year so I'm really pleased with that. It wasn't as cold as last year and the rain was actually quite handy to keep it cool. There was a very good atmosphere and great support out there, I really enjoyed it." Mr Amanatullah was running as part of LIDL's campaign to raise £1m for CLIC in three years. Debbie Ellis, and Gill Perry, from the Trowbridge area, were running for The Hoskins Foundation. Debbie said: "It means a lot to us to do this today, especially for Matt Hoskins' widow Laura who we know quite well." Gill, 48, said: "This is the second time I've done the Bath Half and I feel fantastic, I've taken eight minutes off my last time and it means so much to do it for Matt." Meanwhile Jayne Fishwick from Bath did the family fun run with her sons Oliver, six, and Sam, four. She said: "It's a local event and our friends are involved so we thought we'd join in and it went really well, the kids loved it, they were racing for the finishing line."
