Thousands of runners have taken to the streets in Bath this morning for the the Bath Half. Former Bath Rugby star David Flatman started the marathon and is running for the first time, saying he will be happy to complete the course. "I'm happy to survive, I'm not worried about the time at all," he said. "As long as I get home before work tomorrow I'll be happy." Lewis Moody, former England and Bath Rugby player, is also running for the first time, in support of the Hoskins Foundation to raise money for the RUH and families affected by cancer. He said: "It's great to be here, it's for such a good cause and really good to be running in Bath – I've no idea what time I'll do but I'm just pleased to be able to support the charity." The Hoskins Foundation was set up in memory of Matt Hoskins, who died in August last year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Former Coronation Street actor Will Thorp, who lives in Bath, is also doing his first running event today. He said: "I've been training as much as I can and now it's here – it's my first time and it will be really good to get it done. Bath is arguably the most beautiful city in the world and it's lovely to be doing it here." History teacher Sophie Sullivan, 25, from Bath, is running for the third time to raise money for CoppaFeel!, the lead charity. She said: "I love the atmosphere here, I've run in London and Cardiff and the support you get from the community across the whole route here is just amazing." Thousands of runners will pound the streets of Bath today in one of the city's largest annual events.
