New Lansdown diversion in place for Bath Half

Anyone heading for Bath this weekend could face huge diversions. The ongoing closure of the A431 Kelston Road and road closures associated with the Bath Half Marathon means people travelling from Bristol will have to take a detour along the Avon Ring Road, the A420 through Wick and into Bath via Lansdown. Between 9.45am and 3.30pm on Sunday Newbridge Road, Lower Bristol Road and Upper Bristol Road will be closed because they are part of the route for the Bath Half. Kelston Road remains closed because of subsidence. Race director Andrew Taylor said a contingency plan was in place. "A number of signposted diversion routes will be in place during the road closures for Sunday's race. Unfortunately the designated diversion route to the north of the city has been effected by the closure of the A431 near Kelston due to subsidence. A similar problem arose a few years ago when this same road was closed for engineering works. "We have been working with Bath and North East Somerset Council's highways team to ensure an alternative route via the A420 will be signposted to and from Lansdown Road, westbound onto the A420, southbound onto the A4174 to the Hicks Gate roundabout, in both directions."
