Bath City Community Sports Foundation finally gets funding boost from Football Conference

The Bath City FC Community Sports Foundation has been awarded a grant from the Football Conference Trust for £15,000. The community charity, founded by the Bath City FC Supporters' Society, had twice missed application deadlines for funding in the past 12 months after disputes with the football club board led by former chairman Manda Rigby. Pete Sellwood, a club director and founder of the Foundation, said: "We are delighted to receive this important contribution from the Football Conference Trust that recognises the hard work our team puts in to the community of Bath throughout the year." Acclaimed film director Ken Loach, chairman of trustees for the Foundation, added: "This is brilliant news. The Conference Trust has backed the Foundation's programme in full and recognised the outstanding work of its director, Pete Sellwood. "All the difficulties of the past year are behind us. We look forward to continuing our exciting work with young people and making sure that everyone involved knows what a great club Bath City is." The Bath City FC Community Sports Foundation, a registered charity since 2011, will use the funding to make football available to children in Bath through its four programmes – attacking skills, girls' football, disability sport and five-a-side leagues at the Southside Youth Hub and Percy Community Centre.
