Efforts are being made to give the self-catering accommodation industry a higher profile in Bath.
The Bath Self Catering Association (BASCA) has a new chairman, John Moon, from Batheaston, who has taken over from Mary Cooper from Weston Lane.
Mr Moon, managing director of financial advisers Edison Ford, opened a collection of self-catering properties in his village in 2011.
He said: "BASCA has been very good at promoting self-catering on the internet to holidaymakers and the website is very, very successful.
"We get a lot of business from it, but no one has ever heard of it in Bath.
"We have a lot of goodwill with our clients, but that could be spread a bit wider. We also hope to attract some new members."
Mr Moon, who is well- known in the city for his involvement in local motor sports, added: "With the numbers of visitors BASCA is attracting to Bath, there are lots of opportunities to work with other businesses, such as restaurateurs and leisure providers and other organisations, for mutual benefit."
