The best and worst of food outlets in B&NES . . . which were given a zero rating?

Five food outlets in Bath and north east Somerset have been given a hygiene rating of zero. The ratings, part of a national regime - are for a wide range of outlets, include fast food venues and cafes. The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme categorises places that sell food on their hygiene standards, based on inspections carried out by Bath and North East Somerset Council. A zero rating in the national scheme, developed by the Food Standards Agency in partnership with local authorities, means "urgent improvement necessary". The Food Standards Agency provides information of all ratings given on its website. A further 23 food outlets in the area received a hygiene rating of one which requires that "major improvement is necessary". When a food safety officer inspects a business they will look at how hygienically the food is handled, the condition of the structure of the buildings and how the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.
