Rumoured Bath Rugby coaching target Steve McNamara has joined Australian NRL side Sydney Roosters, according to reports Down Under.
England rugby league boss McNamara had been linked with a position on Bath's coaching staff in the wake of director of rugby Gary Gold's departure earlier this week.
McNamara's England contract expired after their semi-final exit to New Zealand at last month's World Cup and he was rumoured to be weighing up a cross-code switch.
The 42-year-old is believed to have attended training sessions at Bath during the summer and is well known to head coach Mike Ford, himself a former rugby league player.
However, McNamara looks set to remain in rugby league and the Sydney Morning Herald today reported he has been appointed as assistant coach at Sydney.
South African Gold's 19-month stay at The Rec ended in sudden fashion on Monday, with a brief club statement citing a "restructure of the rugby department" as the reason behind the move.
Ford has taken greater control of team affairs this season following Gold's move to the director of rugby post in the close season.
