Comedian Jack Whitehall and his father Michael come to Bath to launch new book

Comedian Jack Whitehall and his father Michael were in Bath last night to launch a new book which shows family life through the eyes of two generations.

The memoir Him and Me - partly written at the Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath - tells the story of the same 20-year period but from two very different viewpoints.

The duo talked about the book and life in the Whitehall household at a near-full event at the Pavilion.

It was organised by the city bookshop Toppings and Co, in association with The Bath Chronicle.

On Friday night Fresh Meat and Bad Education star Whitehall took to Twitter and the We Love Bath site to canvas opinion on where to go after the event.

During the show, in which there were constant references to Bath's upmarket image, he joked that he would take his dad to the city's best-known gay venue, Mandalyns. Before his retirement Whitehall senior was a showbiz agent, with clients including big name stars such as Judi Dench and Colin Firth.

Him and Me is described as a "treasure trove of familial lunacy", showcasing the pair's love of practical jokes and drama, but also highlighting the strong bond between father and son.
