Health minister Dr Daniel Poulter has visited the Royal United Hospital to see the care given to emergency patients and sick newborn babies.
Dr Poulter was shown around the emergency department and the Dyson Centre for Neonatal Care during the visit.
He was told about the success the hospital has had getting patients to give feedback on their care through the national Friends and Family Test.
The test asks patients how likely they are to recommend a ward or emergency department to others.
Dr Poulter spoke to staff about the focus on the six C's of nursing: care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment.
The Dyson centre was opened two years ago and has been designed to be an environmental pioneer in the healthcare industry.
