An abnormal load has been causing delays for drivers trying to get to Bath this afternoon.
Traffic came to a standstill along the A46, around the Cold Ashton roundabout and in Wick as the load, which includes transformers from Didcot power station made its way slowly to Avonmouth.
The load, which was almost 100 metres long and five metres wide and weighed around 640 tonnes, was travelling at just four miles an hour.
It started its journey from Didcot in Oxfordshire yesterday and has spent the last two days making its way through Wiltshire and Bath and North East Somerset.
It caused ten miles worth of tailbacks on the M4 motorway earlier today.
It is expected to park at the Tog Hill parking area overnight tonight before setting off again tomorrow morning at 9am to finish its journey to Avonmouth.
The load will be escorted along the A420 and is expected to arrive at Wick by about 11am. When it reaches the village there will be a delay as steel plates are laid on the road where it passes over two culverts.
The route then takes it to the A4174. When it reaches the Bromley Heath roundabout the road will be closed from there to the M32 junction so that the load can travel on the wrong side of the dual carriageway to avoid a weak bridge.
At the junction with Bristol Road, the load will return to the correct carriageway and continue onto the M32, re-joining the M4 before taking the M5 to Avonmouth.
