A Bath businesswoman is celebrating the coming of age of her management guides.
Business advice consultant Kate Keenan, who is based in Wood Street, is marking the 18th anniversary of the release of the first of her series of management guides by making them available online.
The guides, which cover topics such as handling stress, time management, communication and delegation, were first published in 1995 and have since sold 1.3 million copies worldwide and been translated into 20 languages.
The focus of the books is not so much how to manage others but rather to enable people in positions of responsibility and leadership to manage themselves and help them handle the day-to-day issues associated with managerial roles.
Mrs Keenan, who is a chartered and occupational psychologist, said: "The books offer guidance on a wide range of management topics which provide a short aide-memoire for some of the basic issues involved in any managing job.
"I wrote them as I couldn't find suitable follow-up reading for newly-promoted managers. It's hard to believe it's 18 years ago but their content is as applicable now as it was then."
However, Mrs Keenan said she is not surprised that her books are still proving popular because she believes the advice they offer can be adapted for any walk of life.
She said: "The books provide an instant resource which helps entrepreneurs to get to the heart of the problem quickly and enable them to resolve it positively.
"But people who have to manage households, partnerships, or family relations would also find them of practical use if they are facing situations where perhaps, for example, they have to run a meeting for the first time, negotiate an agreement with a neighbour or an offspring, handle their stress levels positively or build their confidence through becoming more assertive."
