Bath Half Marathon runners shed clothes to raise pounds for children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

People who took part in this year's event unknowingly raised an additional £1,700, by their discarded clothes being recycled.

Bath Half Marathon organisers Running High donated one-and-a-half tonnes of runners' unwanted jumpers, T-shirts and vests to the charity.

CLIC Sargent recycled the clothing through its charity shops and its textile partner.

Fundraising manager Kayley Waller said: "I first approached Running High to work with them on their recycling scheme in 2011 and it has been hugely successful, raising more than £3,000 for CLIC Sargent to date.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Running High for their support, on behalf of the charity and the families of children and young people with cancer we support.

"We're looking forward to continuing working with Running High to raise more vital funds for children and young people with cancer through the Bath Half Marathon 2014 and the recycling scheme in the future."

Entries for the 2014 race are now open.
