People thinking about shifting from car to bike for their commute to work are being offered a new loan scheme.

This is available to anyone living or working in B&NES, with two bike shops taking part – Bike It in Radstock and Take Charge in Bath. The loan is free and people have the choice of a hybrid bike, an electric bike or a folding bike.

B&NES leader Councillor Paul Crossley (Lib Dem, Southdown) said: "The scheme is designed so that people can try cycling before they buy."

To get involved, get a voucher via travel.roadshow@westofengland.org or ring 0117 3521105, and call one of the shops to make an appointment. A returnable deposit of £100 is required and bikes can be borrowed for up to four weeks.
