Judging for the coveted Britain in Bloom award has begun to see if Bath can be crowned as national champion.
Two judges from the Royal Horticultural Society visited various sites around the city this week, including the Royal United Hospital, Weston All Saints Primary School, Millenium Green, Primrose Hill Community Woodland, the Richard Potems community garden in Weston, Milsom Place, Weston resident Suzanne O'Callaghan's front garden, Parade Gardens and the Botanical Gardens.
Bath is representing the South West region and is competing for the UK title against Colchester, Grimsby, Shrewsbury, Bury, Bracknell and Derry.
Bath in Bloom chairman Barry Cruse said: "I have been absolutely delighted by the community participation in particular.
"So many people came forward to offer their help, it really has been top notch.
"It has been a privilege to show the judges the many voluntary groups who work so hard to improve their environment and the wonderful work of our parks department."
Bath picked up the Silver Gilt award two years ago, losing out to winners Derry by just one point, but this year the prestigious Gold is the target.
One of the city's most interesting displays featured models of characters from the TV show The Herbs.
Matt Soan, who planted those characters, said he was confident that Bath had a strong chance of winning.
The Britain in Bloom winner will be announced on October 12 in Cleethorpes.
