Bath Folk Festival returns for a fourth year

Bath Folk Festival is now in its fourth year with an expanded programme of nine days from August 10 to August 18.

Once again there will be concerts from acts from all over the world, a summer school featuring tuition in all forms of folk music offered to players at all levels and lots and lots of sessions for musicians to join in.

This year there will be more dancing classes being added to the programme.

The festival runs a five day course in traditional Irish music and dancing, featuring tutors at the top of their field as well as workshops in English, French, Swedish, Danish and many European traditions as well as other styles from all over the world.

Spread across the city of Bath, the festival now has even more venues and an excellent value season ticket that gets you into events every day of the festival.

Venues in Bath for the festival include Beechen Cliff School, Green Park Tavern and the What a Performance Folk Festival Special will be held at the Gallery Room and St James' Wine Vaults.

Artists appearing include Lunasa, James Fagan & Nancy Kerr (pictured), Alan Burke Damien O'Kane trio featuring Ed Boyd & John Joe Kelly, Rory McLeod, Julie Murphy & Ceri Owen Jones, Karen Tweed Kevin Dempsey & Carolyn Robson, Himmerland, Martin Pearson, Jon Hicks, Inu, The JayWalkers, Angel Ridge, Effra, Nasrudin and Sid Goldsmith & Jimmy Aldridge.

Confirmed tutors include: Karen Tweed, Alan Burke, Jon Hicks, Claire Watts, Gerry Hegarty, Jane Dempsey, James Fagan, Nancy Kerr, Frank Lee, Trish Winter, Jamie Huddlestone, Gabi Maas, Sarah Deer-Jones and Val Knight.

This year there is also a public campsite at Avon Rugby Ground in Bath Easton.
