A new online competition to find Britain's best unknown comedy talent has been launched by Bath audiobook publisher, AudioGO.

Stand Up and Get Heard is billed as a unique opportunity for budding stand-ups to get noticed and win some prizes in the process.

The contest, which is free to enter, celebrates AudioGO's sponsorship of the Pleasance Theatre during the Edinburgh Festival.

This runs from August 2 to 26 and includes daily performances by comics including Tim Vine and Richard Herring.

To enter Stand Up and Get Heard, aspiring comedians should send an MP3 file of their stand-up set to AudioGO which will then be uploaded to its official Facebook page.

The comic with the best routine, as decided by AudioGO, will win two tickets to see a comedy show at the theatre as well as train fares and overnight accommodation in Edinburgh — a package worth in excess of £400.

Closing date is tomorrow and entrants must be based in the UK, and aged 18 or over. Full terms and conditions can be found on the AudioGO Facebook page.
