As usual, the British summer is proving to be rather unpredictable, but come rain or shine there's always somewhere exciting to explore here in the South West.
With more than our fair share of gorgeous countryside, picturesque walking routes and scenic cycle paths there's no excuse not to get back to nature when the weather does permit.
But in every one of our villages, towns and cities you will also find a host of activities to occupy the whole family in the event of a rainy day. In this month's Summer Across The South West feature we take a look at some of the best sites, attractions and events dotted around our local area.
Family Fun Day at Bath Racecourse
On August 22 the whole family can enjoy a day of exciting live racing, set in beautiful scenery overlooking Bath.
Postman Pat and Jess the Cat will be making personal appearances at intervals throughout the afternoon, giving the children plenty of time to meet them.
It promises to be fantastic fun with thrilling live racing to keep both adults and youngsters entertained.
Postman Pat will be making appearances on the Champagne Lawn at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm –don't forget to bring your camera!
The Exclusive Family Fun Day Package (£23 for adults and £8 for children) includes face painting, storytelling sessions, meet and greet with Postman Pat and Jess the Cat as well as snacks for the kids, and unlimited tea and coffee for the grownups. What's more a new interactive road show for kids will be on course courtesy of Great British Racing.
Here, budding young jockeys can enjoy finding out more about the equine and human stars of the sport, design their own racing silks and take a look at some specialist racing equipment.
They'll also be able to check out what racehorses eat to keep them in tip-top condition and learn about what happens at the track.
