Pupils spark debates at Bath Children's Literature Festival

Schoolchildren have organised debates on the subjects that matter to them as part of their involvement with the Bath Children's Literature Festival.

The pupils from Wellsway School, in Keynsham, were selected as the festival's Young Curators and have spent the past six months shaping the ten-day event which starts in September.

They have arranged two debates, entitled Are iPads the New School Books? and Is Our Food Safe?, to give young people the chance to discuss these issues.

The children, who have been working closely with the festival's guest creative director David Almond, have also looked through the programme of author events, giving the thumbs up to their favourite ones, which will now be marked with a Young Curators recommendation stamp.

The festival runs from September 27 to October 6.
