Bell chairwoman Sue Pryor said it was good to see a much-loved pub in the hands of like-minded people.
She said: "So many pubs are closing and we didn't want someone to buy it with the best of intentions but then close it down.
"It is a fantastic old building and we didn't want it turned into flats – we wanted it to stay as a pub."
The people power buyout made the headlines around the world with an American tourist paying the pub a visit on Friday night after reading about it from across the pond.
Barmaid Emmi Seppala said: "A couple came in from New York and they were very excited about trying all the special ales. The man said The Bell was all over the news in New York and in all the left-wing papers."
The community initiative is also something of an inspiration for the Bath City Supporters' Society, which wants to see the Twerton Park club under fans' ownership, as well as regulars of the Richmond Arms in Lansdown and people wanting to restore Cleveland Pool at Bathwick.
