What's your favourite part of Bath?
Great Pulteney Street is magnificent, for its sheer scale and symmetry; walking straight down the middle in the dead of night is an experience. I like Green Park Station for similar reasons.
Where's the best place to eat?
One of the best meals I've ever had was last Christmas at Chequers on Rivers Street. I'm also in love with a curious dish at Bengal Brasserie, below Paperchase, involving chicken, banana and pineapple. And of course, Gourmet Burger Kitchen at The Vaults has become an instant favourite — try the milkshakes!
What's the best view in the city?
After a night of heavy snow, it's well worth the walk up to the top of the Approach golf course... and you can slide down it afterwards! I'm looking forward to looking out from the top of the abbey some time soon.
What would your perfect day in Bath entail?
I'm no huge coffee fan, but Society Cafe is praised almost daily on We Love Bath and it's a super nice spot to hang out, especially with the current exhibition by Perry Harris. A fresh trim from Liam at Artizan always puts a spring in my step, and inhaling a Gong Fu takeaway in a sunny Queen Square weighs me right down again. I'd more than likely end up in Moles to throw some unforgivable moves.
Where would you meet friends for a drink?
Until recently I'd have said the Porter, but in my view it's currently being castrated by big business to become something substantially less interesting and unique. It's always a good time being a loser at the Pig & Fiddle's quiz, and the Westgate has a dangerously good selection of cider.
What's your favourite shop?
I know I can count on Bloomsbury, Found and Urban Outfitters to offer buckets of beautiful things I don't need at all... but really want anyway. Similarly, I have to be careful not to gawp too hard at the industrial treasures in the window of my namesake, Felix Lighting on Bartlett Street.
What one thing about Bath would you change?
It's a massive shame we have neither Walcot Nation Day nor the music festival opening night at the Royal Crescent any more. I'd love for one of them to return in some form, but failing that I'd settle for finally pedestrianising Milsom Street.
