Yellow line talks start

A consultation exercise on more than 40 proposed new locations for double yellow line parking restrictions across the Bath area is under way.

The majority of the changes proposed by B&NES Council are in north east Somerset, many in response to requests from residents concerned about inconsiderate or dangerous parking.

Most add or extend parking restrictions around junctions with others addressing problem spots where parked vehicles make passing difficult.

Residents who think they will be affected by the proposed changes can view maps showing where the double yellow lines are being suggested on the B&NES website, www.bathnes.gov.uk.

Anyone wishing to comment has until June 20 to get in touch with the council's transportation team by email to transportation@bathnes.gov. uk or in writing to Transportation Team, Floor 2, Riverside, Temple Street, Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 1LA.

Councillor Nathan Hartley (Lib Dem, Peasedown St John) welcomed the proposals in his village.

He said: "Over the last 18 months many people have asked for more restrictions to be introduced to prevent inconsiderate parking in their street.

"After a long wait, this sees the start of a consultation asking people what they think about the proposals."

Among the affected areas are Northend in Batheaston, Dovers Park and Mountain Wood at Bathford, Saltford High Street, and Bath Road, Belle Vue Close, Blenheim Close, and Wellow Lane in Peasedown.

X Factor runner-up, Jahmene Douglas is to release his debut album next month.

Entitled Love Never Falls, the album will feature ten covers.

These include a duet with his TV talent show mentor, Nicole Scherzinger.

It only took ten days after finishing as runner-up to James Arthur in last year's X Factor for Douglas to secure a recording contract.

The singer, who grew up in Peasedown St John, has joined the likes of Britney Spears, Shakira and Justin Timberlake by signing for RCA Records.

The album, which will be released on July 22, will include his duet with Scherzinger, a cover of the George Benson and Whitney Houston hit The Greatest Love of All, and covers of David Guetta's Titanium and Coldplay's Fix You.

Douglas is able to boast of more than 600,000 followers on Twitter.

And he has been keeping his loyal legion of fans up to date with the progress of the album, while splitting his time between the studio and the X Factor tour.
