A retired rheumatologist will give a presentation on the best way of preserving the work carried out by the world- renowned Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases next week.
Emeritus Professor David Blake will talk on Saving the Min as a Centre of National Medical Excellence at 3pm at the hospital next Friday.
It will be part of the AGM of the Friends of the RNHRD group.
Prof Blake, who was a consultant at the hospital, will talk against a backdrop of financial problems at the Min as NHS commissioners look for cheaper forms of treatment closer to home.
Prof Blake said the hospital – which is due to merge with the Royal United Hospital – could play a crucial role in tackling health conditions caused by mankind's increasingly sedentary lifestyle.
"The Min is in a near perfect position to join forces with local health commissioners and put Bath on the map once more as a service provider that tackles this premier problem of our age in an innovative and vigorous fashion."
