There were medals aplenty for the Aquae Sulis Performance Swimming Club when members took part in the two-day Millfield Last Chance Open Meet at the weekend. They competed against swimmers from around 40 clubs from as far afield as Newquay and Hatfield at Street and returned home with a haul of 20 golds, 19 silvers and nine bronzes. The boys finished second overall, with the girls third. Despite only competing on day one of the gala, Edward Austin showed versatility and strength in all strokes to claim three gold and two silver medals in the 12 years boys' category. Another swimmer to return with five medals was Charlie Head, who picked up a gold, two silvers and two bronze medals from his events. Good form in the freestyle and butterfly ensured Katie Parfitt claimed three golds. She added silver in the 200m individual medley to her tally. Georgia Keen won three silver medals in the 12 years girls' events. More significantly, her time in the 200m backstroke comfortably ensured qualification for the event at the season-ending National Championships in Sheffield. There were three double gold medallists from Aquae Sulis at the gala. Thomas Sinclair and Tom Smith continued their healthy rivalry in the freestyle events and both secured two golds and one silver. The other was Rachel Palarm, who backed up her breaststroke wins with a bronze medal in the sprint freestyle. Henry Dixon, Ben Lawton, Emily Codd, Henry Clifford and Matt Minnicann were also among the medals.
