Bath jewellers destroyed by fire opens temporary shop in the city

A Bath jewellers which had its shop destroyed in a fire last week is back in business today. Businessman Nicholas Wylde, who has been operating in the city for more than 25 years, saw his lifetime's work go up in flames when his Northumberland Place store caught fire in the early hours of last Wednesday morning. However, he has today opened a temporary shop in the city centre, in the old Clive Ranger store in New Bond Street. Mr Wylde said he wanted to thank all his friends, clients and business associates for the support they had offered him since the fire. He said: "Working on this business for 25 years and seeing it burnt down, it was very emotional to see. "It was a very challenging 24 hours, but with the support of people around me it has made me very positive and determined to get back on my feet." It is understood that the devastating fire was caused by an electrical fault in the building. The store will need to be completely refurbished, but luckily all the jewellery on site was kept in a fire-proof safe overnight so was intact. Mr Wylde said the workshop was up and running as usual and asked any customers to contact the team at the Bristol store on 0117 9743582. More information can also be found at www.nicholaswylde.com.
