Robin D'Souza takes the reins at Corsham CC

Corsham are aiming to take their progression to the next level and win their maiden Premier 1 title in 2013.

After finishing fourth last year, the Station Road outfit have strengthened with a string of new signings.

Seamer Hasitha De Silva, talented Marshfield leg-spinner William Pascall, all-rounder Andy Jones, Adam Mitchell from Bath and prolific batsman Sayeed Ibrahim have all joined.

And Robin D'Souza, who steps up to take the captaincy following Tom Hankins' exit to Lansdown, said: "We have a strong team this year.

"A top-three finish would be welcome but we're aiming to be champions."

With Hankins, Richard Foley and Tom Bowler leaving, D'Souza hopes youngsters Tom Foley and Ben Gardner will step up to the plate.

Corsham begin the campaign with a trip to Frocester but it is at home where the new skipper believes his side's dreams will be made or broken.

D'Souza said: "Historically, our home record is very good.

"We need to keep that momentum going and use the brilliant wickets the groundsman produces for us."
