Newbridge are on course for a treble after beating Odd Down 1-0 in the Steve Fear Memorial Cup final at Mayday Trust Park on Tuesday night.
The clash pitched Division 2 champions Newbridge against the winners of Division 1 and Odd Down can count themselves unlucky as they dominated possession.
They peppered the Newbridge goal at frequent intervals, but were either off-target or denied by the safe pair of hands of Newbridge keeper Barry Wootten.
Odd Down captain Brad Cruise was particularly industrious in midfield, while Sean Sinnot was effective on the left, feeding the Scott brothers, Dan and Ashley, up front.
Newbridge kept a lot of players behind the ball for most of the match and defended with valiant passion and commitment throughout, with centre-back Sam Sibley being particularly indomitable.
As a consequence, Newbridge had far fewer chances than Odd Down and when they did venture into the opposition half they were outnumbered, at times four to one.
An obvious turning point of the match was the substitution of vastly-experienced Odd Down centre-back Lee Burns, who until then had been their assured lynchpin, in the 75th minute.
Newbridge seemed to instantly gain confidence with Burns' departure and reacted immediately by pushing more men further forward, which for the first time in the match Odd Down struggled with.
A single extra-time goal that was all that separated the two sides over the 120 minutes.
Newbridge's Paris Grappy found himself with just Odd Down keeper Jason Cross to beat and deftly chipped the ball into the net. Grappy celebrated by removing his shirt, which immediately earned him a caution from the match referee.
Newbridge return to Mayday Trust Park on Tuesday, May 7 for the Bath Chronicle Charity Cup final. Standing in their way of a treble are Saltford Reserves. Admittance is £2 and the match kicks off at 7.30pm.
