Guitar hero Johnny Winter, who has been wowing audiences for more than 30 years, visits Bath's Komedia tonight. Signing to Columbia records in 1969, Johnny immediately laid out the blueprint for his fresh take on classic blues. Constantly shifting between simple country blues to all-out electric slide guitar blues-rock, Johnny has always been one of the most respected singers and guitar players in rock and the clear link between British blues-rock and American Southern rockers like the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Throughout the '70s and '80s, Johnny was the unofficial torch-bearer for the blues. Dreadzone formed in 1993 when former Big Audio Dynamite drummer, Greg Roberts, teamed up with Tim Bran, who had previously worked as a musician and sound engineer for Julian Cope. The name Dreadzone was suggested to Roberts and Bran by Don Letts. Original pioneers of UK bass culture, Dreadzone will delight audiences with tracks from The Good, The Bad & The Dread – The Best Of Dreadzone, which features 16 of their classic hits including Captain Dread, Fight the Power, Gangster and Little Britain. Catch the, at Komedia tomorrow. Widely regarded as this generation's most inventive folk band Lau, who play Komedia on Sunday, have been crowned Best Folk Group at the BBC Radio Two Folk Awards three years on the trot. Kris Drever, Aiden O'Rourke and Martin Green are a phenomenally talented trio of musicians and their cutting edge sound and charismatic flair have earned them an unrivalled reputation at national and international venues and festivals. The Watford sister trio The Staves, featuring Emily (vocals), Jessica (vocals and guitar) and Camilla (vocals and ukulele) Staveley-Taylor, play Bath's Komedia on Monday. They began performing at open-mic nights at their local, as The Staveley-Taylors, marking their surnames up on the pub's blackboard. One night, running late, a friend chalked them up as The Staves and it stuck. The band supported Bon Iver on their May and June US and Canadian tour last year. The band's debut album, Dead & Born & Grown, was released in November and produced with Glyn Johns and Ethan Johns Adam Ant & The Good The Mad & The Lovely Posse visit Komedia on Tuesday. He's had 10 Top 10 singles to his name including Ant Music, Stand & Deliver and Prince Charming. Support comes from fast-rising Birmingham rockers New Killer Shoes. Adam Ant himself personally chose the band after being impressed with what he saw and heard. He said: "I have selected New Killer Shoes to support me on my forthcoming live dates. They have impressed me greatly with their young fresh sound, their enthusiasm and energy. I know they will go down very well with my fans."
