Colin Gamlin recovered from a four-hole deficit to win the 2012-13 Bath Approach Golf Club KO Shield final at the expense of defending champion Brian Woodford.
Gamlin was still two down with four to play but won three of them, including the 18th, to take the spoils.
It was a similar story in the Plate semi-final as Richard Randall found himself four down to Bob McGregor after six but then won seven of the remaining holes to set up a meeting with Mike Fear.
The winter season may still be ongoing but the 2013 campaign also got under way last week, with Division 1 champion Terry Selway getting his defence under way with victory over promoted Roger Randall after winning the last four holes.
John Sercombe found himself two down to Sue Norris after ten but recovered to lead by the 15th before sealing victory on the penultimate hole.
In Division 2, Dave Ferebee – in his first match of 2013 – won the last four holes against John Grubb but to no avail as his opponent had already galloped to victory.
Craig Jones found himself pegged back by Tiger Lewis with four to play but regained his lead and then held on grimly for one of his results to date.
In the 2013 League Cup, Tony Damon recovered from four down at the turn to lead against George Thurston, only to be denied victory by a birdie at the 18th.
Malcolm French also left it to the final hole before seeing off Ingrid Doherty, who had fought back well from three down to draw level.
Reg Morris twice led against Colin Lee but had to settle for a draw from their Group C encounter, while veteran Brian Wickham also snatched a share of the spoils by winning the 18th against Mike Fear.
Alasdair Campbell marked his return after a season's absence by recovering from three down to beat Dennis Crombie, landing the decisive blow on the 16th.
Bernard Roots had to equal the best round of the day to achieve victory over Mike Hazel, who played exceedingly well on his return to action.
