Police have said a road closure is likely to stay in place on Gay Street for the rest of the day after a man was found with stab wounds. Gay Street has been cordoned off from its junction with George Street up to The Circus, after a man in his 20s was found with serious stab wounds to his chest in the early hours of the morning. Police were called to the scene at 2am and the man was taken to the Royal United Hospital by the South Western Ambulance Service where he underwent surgery. He is now out of surgery and in a serious but not life threatening condition. Officers have confirmed the road closure is likely to remain in place for the rest of the day to allow for forensic examination of the scene. Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody at this time. Police have made an appeal for witnesses. A spokesman said: "At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. However, we would like to speak to witnesses about the assault." Anyone with information should contact Bath CID on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
