They came on two wheels and two legs to celebrate cycling history in Bath. Thousands joined the party as the £4 million Two Tunnels Greenway cycling route was officially opened. Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams and some of the Somerset and Dorset railway firemen who used to work on the railway line attended the grand opening. Bands played as families enjoyed a free festival in Bear Falt but star of the show was the four-mile Two Tunnels Greenway walking and cycling route between Bath and Midford. Cyclists and walkers patiently waited their turn in the sun as the route through two disused railways tunnels and across a viaduct was finally opened to the public after seven years. After the grand opening at the Devonshire Tunnel the crowds headed off to the mile-long Combe Down Tunnel, the longest cycling tunnel in Britain. We were there to capture the culmination of the work by cycling charity Sustrans, Bath and North East Somerset Council, the King Bladud Pigs Project and a campaign group made up of local volunteers.
