They've been together for 50 years and, unlike so many rock and roll bands that have followed in their considerable footsteps, have found a way to stick together. But a ripple of dissent appears to have broken out in the camp this week, suggesting they may not all be singing from the same song sheet. For drummer Charlie Watts has been reported as saying he's actually not very keen on playing at the Glastonbury Festival. The 71-year-old said he preferred to spend his weekends playing with jazz bands and described the Stones as "silly old farts". When asked if he was excited about headlining the iconic Somerset event for the first time this June, Watts is said to have replied: "I don't want to do it. Everyone else does. I don't like playing outdoors, and I certainly don't like festivals. I've always thought they're nothing to do with playing. But Glastonbury, it's old hat really. I never liked the hippy thing to start with. It's not what I'd like to do for a weekend, I can tell you." He added: "The worst thing playing outdoors is when the wind blows, if you're a drummer, because the cymbals move... it really is hard to play then." Mick Jagger may have to have a word. The Stones' frontman revealed only a few days ago that he was delighted to be playing at Worthy Farm in a few weeks' time. Meanwhile, the Stones' concert in Hyde Park in July sold out in just five minutes despite fan concerns over the price of the 65,000 tickets for the central London gig.
