It will come as no surprise to anyone struggling to buy a house in Bath that the city is one of the least affordable in Britain.
The average property price is more than eight times the average salary in Bath with Oxford and Salisbury as the only places where it is harder to get on the property ladder.
The results were revealed in Lloyds TSB's annual "affordable cities review", which ranked Bath third in the least affordable top 20 for the disparity between wages and house prices.
All the top 10 least affordable cities to live are in the south of England.
In Oxford, the average house price is 9.66 times more than the average wage while in Bath it is 8.23.
