Top-of-the-table Welling United came to Bath on Tuesday night but City's young team put in the performance of the season to win 1-0.
The result was unexpected after the recent poor run of form but it shows that we do have what it takes, while Sekani Simpson's goal was a reminder of his attacking prowess from the Southern League Championship season.
The momentum was set by Saturday's late equaliser against another top side, Chelmsford City, on a day when a vociferous home crowd undoubtedly helped the team.
With fans congregating under the Poplar Side roof to shelter from the hailstones and City's young team throwing themselves forward, the noise levels rose and culminated in Noah Keats' last-gasp header.
It felt like a win and encouraged us to believe that we can steer clear of the drop zone.
It is great that fans have been rewarded with two marvellous results, particularly the hardy few who went to all three recent away defeats.
Chelmsford must be sick of the sight of Mayday Trust Park. The last time they visited was in April 2010 when they had lots of chances but City clinically produced a 2-0 win to set up a play-off final.
Last Saturday, Chelmsford once again showed a lot of quality but City's second half charge got its reward. Welling, on the other hand, were disappointing for all their dominance of the league.
Now we face Basingstoke at home. Having missed the recent run of games, I'll be there and I am looking forward to seeing more progress towards a successful 2013-14 campaign.

It was great to see Jim Rollo returning to the City fold this week. In my view he is a vital addition to the coaching team and many people's tip as a future manager.
I heard that he was urging the team on from the technical area in the Welling game and it clearly had a positive effect. He loves the club and that gives him a huge tick on his CV for many fans.
