An excellent under-16s contest under floodlights at Stothert & Pitt's Adamsfield ground ended 29-7 to visitors Wootton Bassett.
While the scoreline indicates a slightly one-way affair the game was closely fought for much of the evening, with Bassett's ability to capitalise on the occasional defensive lapse from Stotherts proving decisive.
Ciaran Smillie's solitary try in the second half was fair reward for the home side, who piled on the pressure in the first 20 minutes and were only kept at bay by an exceptionally well-organised defence.
Tighthead Benji John's immense performance earned him the man-of-the-match honours ahead of a number of worthy contenders.
