Bath-based Olympic silver medallist Michael Jamieson claimed his second gold of the British Gas International Open Meet in Leeds with victory in the 200m breaststroke yesterday.
Following his emphatic win in the 100m breaststroke the previous evening, Jamieson continued the meet in style, posting a time of 2mins 10.43secs to seal the win over training partner Andrew Willis (2:11.42).
"I went out pretty fast in that race and I paid for it a little at the end, but I know if I want to improve I'm going to have to push myself hard on the first 100," he said. "It's always going to feel a little uncomfortable at this stage in training.
"I love racing in finals and trying to swim fast drives me. I think the fact that I really enjoy it helps me to get up for the evening swims and post good times when it matters."
There was more success for Bath-based swimmers as Chris Walker-Hebborn looked strong following an altitude training camp in Sierra Nevada to triumph in the men's open 100m backstroke in 54.80.
"I'm really happy with that swim, I know everyone is in different phases of training at the moment but it's good to come here and take two wins so I'm really happy," he said.
"It helps a lot having my Bath ITC teammates here swimming the way they are and it's nice to be up there getting good swims in too. We have a great network of staff and swimmers so things are looking really good."
Siobhan Marie O'Connor claimed her second medal of the meet with bronze in the 100m breaststroke in 1:08.42.
Stacey Tadd finished second in the 200m breaststroke on Friday.
Chloe Davies, who swims in the SM14 category, won the silver medal at the MC 200m individual medley yesterday, improving on her personal best from the heats to finish in 2:39.73, worth 886 points.
