Bath's Moles nightclub has been voted the best venue for upcoming bands in the country.
The George Street venue, which is celebrating its 35th year, took the title in BBC Radio 6 Music's annual Blog Awards.
DJ Tom Maddicott, who took over at the club last summer in partnership with former owner Phil Andrews, said the award epitomised what the pair were trying to achieve.
He said: "For us it's great. It justifies everything we've been doing since we took over and it's something Moles has always been good at."
Moles has become an institution over its 35-year history and has seen many big names perform there in the early stages of their careers.
Among them have been Radiohead, The Cure, Blur, Oasis, The Smiths, Supergrass and the Manic Street Preachers.
The award was backed by music website Never Enough Notes which said: "We were looking for smaller, intimate venues and there are plenty of those around, but we didn't expect the volume of support and huge amount of loyal support we had."
It said Moles took the top spot in "a neck-and-neck race" with The Fleece in Bristol. Mr Maddicott added: "We are offering something different to Bath nightlife. We are the only club that puts on live bands.
"Moving forward, we just want to keep putting on quality nights and getting Moles on the map of the South West music scene."
Meanwhile, singer Gabrielle Aplin has added a home town gig in Bath to her sell-out tour of the country.
The 20-year-old former City of Bath College student, whose family live near Chippenham, will be playing Komedia in Westgate Street on Tuesday, March 26.
Her 12-night tour follows her number one success with her version of the Frankie Goes to Hollywood hit The Power of Love, which was the soundtrack for department store chain John Lewis's Christmas TV advert.
Gabrielle, who is currently supporting Ed Sheeran on a tour of Australia and New Zealand, released the single Please Don't Say You Love Me earlier this month.
