Four second-half penalties were missed – two by either side – as Newbridge maintained their 100 per cent record in Roper Rhodes Bathrooms Bath & District League Division 2 with a 2-1 victory over Larkhall Inn.
Newbridge fell behind five minutes before the break but were vastly improved after it and deservedly drew level when Andy Watson and Benjamin Thomas linked well to set up goalscorer James Curtis.
Thomas then had the morning's first spot-kick saved at the expense of a corner, from which Sam Sibley put Newbridge in front with an excellent header.
Larkhall failed to find the target with their first penalty before Sibley put his wide at the other end. With six minutes to go, Larkhall were again handed the chance to equalise when the referee pointed to the spot but keeper Barry Wootten made the save to secure Newbridge's ninth win in as many matches.
The top three sides in Division 1 were all among the goals last weekend.
Leaders Odd Down A returned to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Aces.
Scott's double and goals from Crook, Chandler and Stainsby kept the Downers – whose last league success came on January 5 – at the summit. Little and Richardson were Aces' marksmen.
Trowbridge House kept up the pressure in second spot with their fifth win in six matches, beating Stothert & Pitt 6-3 away.
Lewington and McGill each scored twice for House and Handon and Isaacs joined them on the scoresheet. Turpin hit two and Hardy one for Stotherts.
Champions AFC Durbin United were 4-1 winners over Full Moon thanks to a Grey hat-trick and an own goal. Hand replied for the second-from-bottom visitors.
