A Sicilian barber who helped keep the men of Bath looking smart for more than 20 years has died at the age of 72.
Domenico Greco, who worked at Trimmers in Barton Street along with his two sons Salvatore and Antonio, died last week less than a year after undergoing a heart bypass.
Mr Greco was born in 1940 and trained to be a barber in his native Aragona in Sicily.
As a 19-year-old, Mr Greco travelled to Belgium in search of a better life and took a job working in mining before moving to the UK in the 1960s.
He ended up in Bristol at the age of 28 and had a range of occupations including working in a jam factory, cleaning offices and waiting at restaurant tables. He eventually found a job as a hairdresser in a Bedminster barber shop named The Italian.
At an Italian dance Mr Greco met his wife, Vicenza, and the couple were married in 1969. They had three children, Salvatore, Isabella and Antonio, and eventually seven grandchildren.
After setting up his own business at Nick's Barber shop in Bristol in the late 1970s, Mr Greco had to abandon the venture due to ill health and decided to join his two sons at their new barbers in Bath in 1992.
Mr Greco retired because of his deteriorating health.
His family said in a statement: "He missed all his clients and they missed him because he was such a caring person and enjoyed his job to the point were he was a perfectionist in what he did. He made himself well known with all other businesses in the area who even after he retired would still ask after him."
His family added he was a true gentleman and a loving father with a passion for food, drink and his family.
