A football club in Bradford on Avon has bought a defibrillator after one of its youth players suffered a heart attack during a game earlier this month.
Quinton Barham, who is just 13, is making a good recovery and has now left intensive care to be moved into his own room at Bristol Children's Hospital.
The teenager was playing for Bradford Town Youth Football Club in an under 14 cup game on February 3 when he fell seriously ill.
He underwent heart bypass surgery, with doctors discovering that one of his valves had always been in the wrong place, but is responding to treatment well and is getting stronger every day.
The club has responded to the scare by proposing to roll out defibrillators at the grounds its teams play at.
In a post on the football club's website, manager Alex Pilkington said: "One of positives to come out from this is that the club have bought a defibrillator unit for the rugby club and intend rolling out units across all grounds where we play.
"The club will be providing training for coaches and any volunteer parents."
