Bath businessman Tim Lambert's dawn runs for marathon challenge

By the time he gets to work, Tim Lambert has put in enough effort to send many of us back to our beds.

The Bath businessman who is running 150 miles for charity in two ultramarathon challenges, gets up at 5am every weekday for a training run of up to ten miles.

The 31-year-old then returns home to Batheaston to have breakfast with his wife Solange and their two children before starting his working day.

At the weekend, he tries to fit in a training run of between 18 and 25 miles as he prepares for the races, where he hopes to raise £2,000 for the health charity Hope for Tomorrow.

Tim, who is head of investment property at Bath investment firm Parallel, will tackle the North Downs Way 50-mile ultramarathon in May, before in August attempting the North Downs 100, racing along the same route for the first 50 miles and carrying on for another 50 miles to Wye in Kent with a target time of 21 hours.

He said: "I want to face big challenges that push me physically and mentally to my very limits. In the process, I'll be raising money for Hope for Tomorrow's extremely worthy cause, which will really help to spur me on."

Tim, who has done the Virgin London Marathon three times before, added: "The biggest challenge is fitting my training plans round an enjoyable but demanding job, and the needs of my family."

His wife will be running the Bath Half Marathon next month, and is also pacing Tim through part of the night of the 100-mile race.

Tim said: "She is so supportive, as long as it doesn't take up too much of our time as a family. So often I go running at 4 or 5am, so I can have the day with my family."

Tim has to wear a headtorch, and for his longer runs he carries a waterproof, a map, water, salt tablets, energy gels and cereal bars.

Hope for Tomorrow provides mobile chemotherapy units, in partnership with the NHS.
