Bath Rugby have confirmed the exit of first-team coach Brad Davis.
The 44-year-old has not been in attendance on a matchday for two months and news of his departure will come as no surprise to the Rec faithful.
Davis was the only member of last season's coaching staff to remain at the club when new chief Gary Gold arrived along with Mike Ford, Toby Booth and Neal Hatley in the summer but says he is leaving to pursue a new challenge elsewhere.
"This has been a very tough decision, but one I feel is right for both myself and the club," said Davis. "I've learnt a lot in my time here, and I'd like to thank all the players, coaching and back-room staff, plus of course all the Bath supporters who have made my stay at Bath Rugby such a memorable experience.
"The time is right for me to move on and explore new opportunities, and I hope the club has every success in the future."
Davis arrived from Castleford Tigers in 2006 and primarily worked as backs and defence coach. He turned Bath's defence into one of the toughest in the country and helped the club lift the European Challenge Cup in 2008 and reach three successive Premiership semi-finals.
Bath Rugby chief executive Nick Blofeld said: "Brad has been a great servant to the club since coming here, and has been instrumental in developing such a strong defence in recent seasons.
"We would like to thank him for his commitment and contribution to the club, and wish him all the very best. He'll always be welcome back and we hope to see him at The Rec and in the clubhouse when time permits."
