Councillors are meeting to discuss plans to expand six primary schools across Bath and the wider area to meet demand for more pupil places.
The proposal from Bath and North East Somerset Council is to increase Bathampton Primary, Weston All Saints Primary, Peasedown St John Primary, Paulton Infants, Paulton Juniors and Castle Primary, in Keynsham.
It follows a public consultation, where the majority of people were happy with the expansions, although concerns were raised about traffic issues at WASPS and in Paulton.
Councillor Dine Romero, the cabinet member for early years, children and youth, said the move was necessary to ensure children could attend their local school.
She said: "B&NES Council is committed to ensuring it provides sufficient school places in the right area to meet demand and increase parental choice.
"Our projections of future pupil numbers based on population growth and pupils coming from new housing developments and parental preference indicate a future shortfall of primary school places in these areas of the district and at these schools if action is not taken to add more places."
The matter is being discussed at a cabinet meeting next Wednesday and, subject to approval, will see a further four-week consultation process before a final decision is made.
Details of this are expected to be published in early March.
