Tunley Athletic failed to halt table-topping Radstock Town Reserves in the Somerset League Division 2 East as they suffered a 3-1 home defeat on their return to action after a two-week break.
Matt Doughty hit the crossbar with a header as Tunley began well and they were rewarded for their pressure in the 12th minute when Chris Young's well-taken effort put them in front.
Tunley continued to press but were caught on the break ten minutes later as Jordan Townsley bagged the equaliser. They survived a let-off when Radstock missed a penalty but fell behind when a defensive mix-up gave Ben Flower the chance to pick his spot.
Ted Green extended Radstock's lead before the break and, although Jason Curtis hit a post and Young went close in the second half, Tunley could not recover.
Charlie Babb was named man of the match for Tunley, who host Cutters Friday Reserves on Saturday (2.30pm).
Tunley Athletic Reserves kept up the pressure at the top of Mid-Somerset League Division 3 with a 6-2 success at Belrose Reserves.
Tom Peilasz gave Tunley a two-goal advantage, only for the hosts to draw level before the interval. Peilasz went on to complete a hat-trick, with Sam Peilasz, Boston Rovetta-Wood and David Fairweather completing the visitors' half-dozen.
Tunley's second-string visit Shepton Mallet A in the Charity Cup on Saturday (1.45pm).
