Ex-Bath Rugby player and England Captain Lewis Moody will soon take on the greatest challenge of his life.
Moody, who lives in Bradford on Avon, is going to trek across some of the wildest terrain in the world.
The Yukon Arctic Ultra challenge, which has been described as the "world's coldest and toughest" UltraMarathon, begins on Sunday.
Competitors trek 300 miles in eight days across North Canada, and face hostile weather conditions which include icy winds and temperatures that drop to minus fifty degrees centigrade.
Moody is taking part to raise money and awareness for HopeHIV, a charity that helps orphans and vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa.
The 34-year-old said he had visited some of their street children projects in Kenya in 2008 and 2012 and was inspired to help.
He said: "I was struck by the reality of the stark contrast between our lives and the poverty and challenges these kids face every day."
As part of the difficult training programme, Lewis used the Ztrainer suspension fitness trainer, a product developed by a Bath fitness trainer and entrepreneur.
Zita Alves, a personal trainer who founded Zest Bootcamp and launched the product, said she was delighted that Moody had chosen the Ztrainer as part of his preparation.
