It may be five months away, but already Bath in Fashion is gearing up for its week-long programme of events next year.
Bath in Fashion will showcase trends of spring and summer from craft to catwalk and puts Bath once again in the spotlight. Running from Saturday, March 21, to Sunday, March 29, it will include catwalks with models showing off spring and summer collections, fashion editors and designers sharing and debating their styles, while celebrating the craft behind fashion with hands-on workshops and stages exhibitions and installations.
A Bath in Fashion statement said: "Fashion is immersive now, all encompassing – frocks, designers, retail, museums, street, couture, stylish people, words, moving pictures. It touches us in every aspect of our lives. Bath in Fashion explores fashion from craft to catwalk and puts Bath once again in the media spotlight."
Bath in Fashion's chairwoman and director of Milsom Place, Sarah Mansfield, said:
"Bath is one of the most stylish and elegant cities in Europe.
"The festival builds on this, bringing together designers, commentators, makers and doers from the world of fashion to our World Heritage City.
"Always stimulating, innovative and diverse, Bath in Fashion is inspiring and fun."
Now into its sixth year, the week-long event, which is managed and funded by Bath Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Bath Tourism Plus, is created as a collaboration by Bath businesses to put the city in the fashion spotlight.
Chief executive of Bath BID, Andrew Cooper, said: "Bath in Fashion offers businesses across the city the opportunity to showcase the season's fashion both on the catwalk and with their own creative in-store events and promotions."
It will be sponsored by Europe's oldest department store Jolly's, based on Milsom Street.
Jolly's, which opened in 1831, has just finished its first major facelift.
