Club captain Joe Garry held a successful bowmaker at the weekend, with proceeds boosting project to improve the paths at Lansdown.
A total of 35 teams took part and helped a delighted Garry raise over £500 for the project. The winning team with 89 points was Chris Sparkes, John Mountain, Jason Revill and Grant Whitehead. In second spot with 86 points was Terry Corbett playing with Dave Wade, Gerry Melksham and Keith Tyler.
The other placings could only be decided on countback as the team of Mike Banner, Tom Furnell, Tim Rickards and Patrick Harrison pushed the Godfrey Cup winning team of Bryan Lindsay, Barry Frayling, Steve Maddison and Martin Longford into fourth spot when both teams came in with 84 points.
The Greensome Cup has been won by Terry Hughes and Ian Carter with a net score of 67.2.
The lowest gross score in the Mixed Open Greensomes was shot by Laura Leach and David Whyte with an excellent 74 – the best gross for visitors went to Liz Stephens (Taunton Vale) and Chris Mayo (Thornbury) with a 77.
The stableford event was won by Ken Rivers and Alison McDougall from the Bristol as they came in two points clear of the field with 43 points. The placings were all filled by Lansdown pairings with second spot going to Nicki Perham and Abi Bakali with 41 points. Whyte and Leach claimed third place but only on countback from father and daughter combination, Andy and Amelia Matthews, as both pairs scored 40 points. The Club was delighted to see so many visitors take part in the event and be in the prizes.
The Scratch Cup, a knockout competition for the top 16 players from the club championship, has been won by Ken Madden with some sparkling golf. In the semi-final he defeated Gloucestershire player and head greenkeeper, Paul Garland, with a 5 under par round. In the final he beat Bryan Lindsay 5 and 4 and was four under par when the match ended.
The Jubilee Cup has been won by Clare Mornement with 36 points some three points clear of Cheryl King in second place whilst third spot went to Sheila Burridge with 32 points.
