Police discovered and dismantled a cannabis factory at a house in The Hollow, Twerton, this morning.

Officers from the Southdown and Oldfield Park beat team seized 30 mature plants in two upstairs bedrooms, as well as cannabis-growing equipment from the lower and first floor rooms.

Inquiries are now underway to find who was responsible for setting up and maintaining the factory.

Beat manager PC Mark Hodder praised local people who had come forward with information about drugs activity at the address.

He said: "The property's electricity supply had been tampered with, abstracting electricity to power fifteen 600-watt lights used to grow the cannabis. There were burn marks on the carpet, the property was in a dangerous state and could have gone up in flames at any time."

If you suspect drugs activity where you live call 101 and ask to speak to your neighbourhood beat team.
